Dr. Alexandros Koumbis studied Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1990), and obtained his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the same University in 1996, under the supervision of Prof. I. Gallos. In 1998 he joined Prof. K. C. Nicolaou’s group at the Scripp’s Research Institute (USA) as a postdoctoral researcher fellow where he worked in the total synthesis of natural products for more than 3 years. In 2001 he was appointed Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where he is currently a Professor. During the period 2007-2008 he worked for his sabbatical leave as postdoctoral researcher at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (Strasbourg, France) under the supervision of Prof. J.-M. Lehn.
He is the author of more than 50 publications in peer reviewed journals and more than 50 presentations in national and international conferences-meetings, with h-index 22 and more than 1500 hetero-citations. He is also co-author of a patent.
He has supervised 45 undergraduate and 17 post-graduate students and 5 Ph.D. students. He participated in several research programs and collaborated with other researchers of diverse research fields.
