  • Oral statement at the United Nations water conference at the UN headquarters in New York 22-24 March 2023 by Assoc. Prof. Ioannis Katsoyiannis

    Ioannis Katsoyiannis, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Chemistry at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki participated at the 2023 United Nations water conference at the UN headquarters in New York from 22 to 24 March 2023 on his capacity as the Director of the Institute of Sustainable Water Management and Water Law,of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO). Professor Katsoyiannis gave a statement about the world water situation on the third day of the conference during the general debate, in the General Assembly Hall and, stressed among others that, although big efforts have been realized, there are still hundreds of millions of people without access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation, while water scarcity is threatening the available water sources in almost all the world. In addition, chemical pollution, which is still a big problem, endangers biodiversity.

In the spirit of the journal’s recent 10-year anniversary, nominees were assessed for their excellence and impact over the past decade – across four categories: Innovators and Trailblazers, Leaders and Advocates, Connectors and Interdisciplinarians, and Mentors and Educators. The list is created of 100 scientists (25 per category).

    In this list, Greece is represented by two Professors of the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry, School of Chemistry, AUTH, specifically by Prof. Georgios Theodoridis in the category: Connectors and Interdisciplinary and Prof. Victoria Samanidou in the category: Mentors and Educators.

  • Certification of the Programme of Undergraduate Studies of the School of Chemisty

    The Hellenic Quality Assurance & Accreditation Agency has certified that the Programme of Undergraduate Studies of the School of Chemisty complies with the principles of the “Standards foe Quality Accreditation of Undergraduate Programmes” of HQA and the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015) corresponding to level 6 of the National and European Qualifications Framework. Date of initial accreditation: 16/09/2021. Valid until: 15/09/2025.
