Α significant part of the research and technological development within the School of Chemistry is carried out in the context of competitive reasearch programs funded by National, European and International organizations. At the national level, these organizations are Ministries, the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (ELIDEK), Local Government and Public Organizations and the private Companies.

Most research programs are funded mainly under under frameworks such as the 7th Framework Program and the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF). In addition, a significant number of research projects are funded by European and international institutions or large industries, which focus their business interests on technology and research actions related to applications of Chemistry.

The Special Account for Research Funds (or Research Committee) of A.U.TH.  is legally responsible for the financial management of all types of funds for research, educational training, technological development and continuing education projects, and for providing scientific, technological and other related services or activities that contribute to linking education and research with industrial production and practical implementations.

Data are presented below for the inflows of research funding and funded research programs in the School of Chemistry within the last five years 2016-2020, the active research programs in the Department by 31/12/2021, as well as information on the Research Committee of A.U.TH.
